“The Last of Us” Season 2: Tati Gabrielle and More Cast as Video Game Characters
The cast for “The Last of Us” Season 2 continues to grow, with Entertainment Weekly reporting that Tati Gabrielle (“Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”) will play video game character Nora in the new season. Additionally, the site reports on more casting news for Season 2.
Spencer Lord (“Riverdale”) will play Owen, Ariela Barer (How to Blow Up a Pipeline) will play Mel, and Danny Ramirez (Top Gun: Maverick) will play Manny.
HBO describes the video game characters as follows…
- Nora: “A military medic struggling to come to terms with the sins of her past.”
- Owen: “A gentle soul trapped in a warrior’s body, condemned to fight an enemy he refuses to hate.”
- Mel: “A young doctor whose commitment to saving lives is challenged by the realities of war and tribalism.”
- Manny: “A loyal soldier whose sunny outlook belies the pain of old wounds and a fear that he will fail his friends when they need him most.”
The cast of new faces for “The Last of Us” Season 2 includes Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Young Mazino as Jesse, and Isabela Merced as Dina, with Catherine O’Hara also on board.
The lineup of directors for Season 2 includes Mark Mylod (“Succession,” The Menu) alongside Nina Lopez-Corrado (Perry Mason), Stephen Williams (Watchmen) and Kate Herron (Loki). They join returning directors Peter Hoar, Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann.
The second season of HBO’s “The Last of Us” will adapt video game sequel The Last of Us Part II, but don’t expect the game’s events to be contained to just one season. It’s likely that the sequel’s sprawling, multi-character story will span the timeline of at least two seasons.
HBO’s “The Last of Us” takes place twenty years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse across the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.
Pedro Pascal (“The Mandalorian”) stars in the series as Joel and Bella Ramsey (“Game of Thrones”) plays Ellie. Gabriel Luna (Terminator: Dark Fate) plays Tommy, the brother of Pascal’s Joel. Storm Reid, Anna Torv, Jeffrey Pierce, Nick Offerman, Merle Dandridge, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett and Con O’Neil also star in the first season of the hit series.

“I’m the Grim Reaper” – Sam Raimi Teams with ’10 Cloverfield Lane’ Writers on Gory, Funny Webtoon Adaptation
The Wattpad/Webtoons and Grave Weaver-created series “I’m the Grim Reaper” is nearing its 200th episode, and it’s also getting a new TV series adaptation with talented names behind it. Deadline reports that celebrated filmmaker Sam Raimi is teaming up with 10 Cloverfield Lane scribes Josh Campbell & Matt Stuecken on the new series.
The series follows “Scarlet, a young woman who wakes up in the ninth circle of hell with no idea how she got there. Satan offers to send Scarlet back to Earth if she’ll work as his reaper. But it doesn’t take long for Scarlet to realize that Satan’s offer is even worse than she feared.”
The story is said to fit perfectly into “Raimi’s wheelhouse, striking a deft balance between scares, gore and humor.”
Sam Raimi and Zainab Azizi will executive produce the series with Weaver, who’ll also team on the development process. Raimi may be most known for his Spider-Man and Evil Dead movies, but the filmmaker has been busy behind the scenes producing. More recently, Raimi produced this week’s action brawler Boy Kills World and last year’s 65, with Don’t Move on the way.
The “I’m the Grim Reaper” webtoon launched in 2019, delving into the humor and horrors of reaping souls in Hell. That it’s on the cusp of airing its 200th episode means no shortage of story and mythology for Campbell and Stuecken to pull from.
