The main series may be over but Netflix will be returning to Hawkins with animated spinoff series “Stranger Things: Tales from ’85,” and a series of posters today spotlight the returning characters plus a new one played by Odessa A’zion (Hellraiser, Marty Supreme).
Collider reveals that Odessa A’zion will play new character Nikki Baxter, who will join the beloved Hawkins gang in battling a whole new host of monsters from the Upside Down.
Showrunner Eric Robles tells Collider, “Nikki is a 14-year-old transfer student from the East Coast — by way of all over. She’s kind and loyal, unafraid to use her intimidating size and punk-rock look to warn off any bullies that might try to cross her.”
“Nikki provides a fresh new perspective on the status quo, shaking up dynamics and points-of-view,” Robles continues in his statement to Collider. “And perhaps even more importantly, she brings us — and the rest of the Stranger Things crew — an exciting, fresh roster of danger and monsters unlike anything our kids have ever faced before.”

Is “Stranger Things: Tales from ’85” canon to the original series?
Yes! The animated series is set between the events of “Stranger Things” Seasons 2 and 3.
In the winter of 1985, snow blankets the town and the horrors of the Upside Down are finally fading. Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Max have settled back into a normal life of D&D, snowball fights, and quiet days. But beneath the ice, something terrifying has awakened.
