The Hawkins gang is back to continue their battle against strange creatures this fall when Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 returns with its second season. Netflix has released new images along with a release date.
Season two debuts on Netflix on September 17.
The first season of the animated spinoff is set in the winter of 1985, as snow blankets Hawkins and the horrors of the Upside Down are finally fading. Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Max have settled back into a normal life of D&D, snowball fights, and quiet days.
In the second season, “With Valentine’s Day on the way, the gang must uncover the truth behind ghostly apparitions and a swarm of strange creatures causing chaos around town.“
It stars Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max, Luca Diaz as Mike, Elisha “EJ” Williams as Lucas, Braxton Quinney as Dustin, Ben Plessala as Will, Brett Gipson as Hopper, Jeremy Jordan as Steve, and Odessa A’zion as newcomer Nikki Baxter.
The cast also includes Janeane Garofalo as Anna Baxter, Lou Diamond Phillips as Daniel Fischer, Robert Englund as Cosmo, Alysia Reiner as Karen Wheeler, Alessandra Antonelli as Nancy Wheeler, Valeria Rodriguez as Rosario, and Jack Griffo as Jeff.
Stranger Things creators Matt & Ross Duffer executive produce with Hilary Leavitt on behalf of Upside Down Pictures, alongside Shawn Levy via 21 Laps, Dan Cohen, and Robles.
Daniel Kurland wrote in his review, “‘Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85’ is branded content that’s passable for second screen viewing, that’s just familiar enough to drag the audience along. Hopefully, a hypothetical second season truly takes advantage of the full potential of a ‘Stranger Things’ spin-off and peels back Hawkins’ layers like never before.
