‘The Chain’ – Michael Sarnoski Directing Pilot Episode for Disturbing HBO Kidnapping Thriller

The only way to get your child back is to kidnap another child. That’s the disturbing central premise of Adrian McKinty’s novel The Chain, which is now getting a limited series at HBO.

The novel was published by Orion Books in 2019, and Stephen King is one of the twisted tale’s many fans. He called it a “nightmarish story” that’s “incredibly propulsive and original.”

“You won’t shake it for a long time,” King added.

Deadline reports that Michael Sarnoski (Pig, A Quiet Place: Day One, The Death of Robin Hood) will executive produce the series for HBO, and he’s also directing the pilot episode.

Jodie Comer will star in HBO’s “The Chain.” In the eight-episode series, Comer plays Rachel, a suburban mother who must consider the unthinkable when her daughter is kidnapped.

Damon Lindelof (“Watchmen”) is show-running “The Chain” for HBO.

Damon Lindelof also co-wrote the pilot episode with Carly Wray (“Mad Men,” “Westworld”), based on a story by Lindelof, Wray, and Breannah Gibson (“The Penguin”).
