Netflix has announced today that “Scooby-Doo: Origins” has officially wrapped production.
The series will launch globally on Netflix in 2027.
“Scooby-Doo: Origins” marks the first time in the Scooby-Doo franchise that the character of Scooby-Doo will be portrayed by a real Great Dane, as seen in the adorable wrap photo below.
The image might also give us our first peek at the series’ take on the Mystery Machine.
As previously revealed, Maxwell Jenkins (“Lost in Space”) will play Fred, Tanner Hagen (“The Pitt”) will play Shaggy, and Abby Ryder Fortson (Ant-Man) will play Velma, joining Mckenna Grace (Scream 7) as Daphne.
Also appearing in the series are Paul Walter Hauser, Rusty Schwimmer, Peter Macon, Jona Xiao, Dani Deetté, Elysée Sanvillé, Alex Isles, Avery Kristen Pohl, Pamela Mitchell, Ross Kimball, Sara Gilbert, Wynn Everett, Sauriyan Sapkota, Bruce McGill, André Benjamin, and Cathy Moriarity.
Josh Appelbaum (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol) and Scott Rosenberg (Venom, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle) serve as showrunners and writers.
Toby Haynes (“Andor,” “Black Mirror”) will direct the first of eight episodes, in addition to serving as an executive producer.
For more than 50 years, Scooby-Doo has been a pop culture powerhouse spanning three theatrical films, more than a dozen animated series, and nearly 40 animated home entertainment movies.
