[Gamescom 2018] New ‘Metro Exodus’ Trailer Cranks The Horror

Gamescom 2018 is in full swing, and for 4A Games, that means it’s an opportunity to grace us with another Metro Exodus trailer ahead of its February 22, 2019 release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

The trailer definitely ups the horror quotient, showing off beautiful yet definitely creepy environments, fearsome mutants and wildlife, and some of the crazy inhabitants found around the Volga River region. I could do without the tired “BWAHH” sound effects, though. Seriously, why does everyone have to ape Hans Zimmer when it comes to creating tension?

In addition, those looking for a little something extra when purchasing Metro Exodus can do so with the Aurora Edition, which can be pre-ordered at GameStop for PS4 and Xbox One. What’s in the Aurora Edition, you ask? Well:

  • a copy of the game in an exclusive Steelbook
  • a 32-page art book
  • the Metro Exodus Expansion Pass
  • a bespoke metal outer case inspired by The Aurora, the steam locomotive that Artyom and his companions use to journey across post-apocalyptic Russia

On digital storefronts, you can choose between the Standard and Gold Edition of Metro Exodus; both contain the game itself, while the latter also includes the Metro Exodus Expansion Pass. In addition, pre-ordering any edition of the game will land you the following, depending on the platform:

  • All Xbox One pre-orders, physical or digital include a copy of Metro 2033 Redux – the first game in the Metro saga, remastered for the Xbox One
  • All PlayStation 4 pre-orders, physical or digital, include a stunning Dynamic Theme based on the Metro Exodus ‘Winter’ artwork.
  • All physical PC pre-orders and Steam pre-orders include a digital art book and the Metro Exodus OST.
