Capcom Reveals More ‘Devil May Cry 5’ Gameplay Footage

Published

on

Hungry for more Devil May Cry 5 footage? Of course you are! Capcom has you covered, as they recently had a livestream that showed more Dante kicking ass, as well as showing more gameplay mechanics and details.

For example, style switching is back, with Dante having Gunslinger, Swordmaster, Trickster, and Royal Guard to choose from (so far). And yes, Dante was demonstrating his wacky motorcycle swords again. New this time around is the ability to target multiple enemies with Dante’s two pistols, Ebony & Ivory. The player will be able to control the directions in which each pistol is aimed.

Also returning are Secret Missions, one of which the player happened upon during the stream. This one in particular has the player maintaining an S rank until the end of the mission’s duration. IF that’s not an excuse to grind for more orbs for upgrading, I don’t know what is. Not that I’d mind, since the combos looked friggin’ cool.

Unfortunately, we weren’t privy to any new cutscenes during the playthrough (given the recent trouble Capcom has had with leaks of cutscenes), but at least Dante has his smartass quips that we all love. Also, still nothing on that rumoured multiplayer, but that will probably come out once the game arrives March 8, 2019 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Legendary Grimdark ‘Warhammer 40,000’ Artist John Blanche Has Passed Away at 78

In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war, but it was a cheerful illustrator from England who helped to define the terrifying war-torn imagery that inspired what we now know as Grimdark (a hybrid genre combining horror with sci-fi/fantasy).

Unfortunately for fans of Warhammer 40,000, Trench Crusade and countless other sources of Grimdark thrills, veteran artist John Blanche passed away this week after struggling with health issues for the past few years.

While the artist retired back in 2023, he leaves us with an enormous legacy of iconic artwork that continues to inspire gamers and storytellers around the world to this very day.

The news is especially gloomy as it was only last year that Daniel Lowman and Napoleon Dynamite himself Jon Heder released The Grim & the Dark: The Search for John Blanche, a documentary following Heder’s exploration of the Grimdark genre culminating in a heartwarming encounter with Blanche in his own home.

Below is one of my favorite pieces by Blanche, his highly influential depiction of Warhammer 40k’s God-Emperor of Mankind on his Golden Throne.

We send our deepest condolences to John Blanche’s family, friends, and fans.
