Another ‘Fatal Frame’ Alumni Joins ‘Super Smash Bros Ultimate’

What does it say when Nintendo gives more thought to your classic games than you do? Castlevania‘s Simon Belmont (along with Richter Belmont and Alucard) are new additions to Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros Ultimate, and now you can count Yuri Kozukata from Konami’s Fatal Frame series in the game!

Granted, Yuri is only an Assist Trophy, but her inclusion is a nice touch (since I don’t think anyone played Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water, which had Yuri as the protagonist). As you’ll see from the video below, activating Yuri will have her drop onto the playing field, where she proceeds to use the Camera Obscura to stun your opponents by taking their picture.

This actually isn’t the first time the Fatal Frame series got a nod in Smash Bros. Mio & Mayu Amakura from Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly were featured as a trophy in Super Smash Bros for Wii U. Mio & Mayu are also returning for Smash Bros Ultimate as a “Spirit” in the game’s new Spirits Mode.

Of course, this is wishful thinking, but could we get Rick from Namco’s Splatterhouse in the game next? Super Smash Bros Ultimate hits the Nintendo Switch December 7, 2018.
