‘God of War’ Wins Big, ‘Fornite’ Wins Bigger at The 2018 Golden Joystick Awards

The year-end awards season is underway, and The Golden Joystick Awards have rolled out their selections, as voted on by subscribers. Surprisingly, Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 was beaten out for the Game of the Year by Epic’s Fortnite. RDR2 still managed to snag the Critics Choice Award, however.

For genre fans, the big winner was Sony’s God of War, which took home the awards for Best Storytelling, PlayStation Game of the Year, Best Visual Design and Best Audio. GoW‘s developer, Sony Santa Monica, also snagged the Studio of the Year award. Capcom’s Monster Hunter World was awarded Best Co-op Game, and along with taking home Game of the Year, Fortnite also grabbed the Best Competitive Game award.

The 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Hidetaka Miyazaki, president of From Software and producer/director on the Dark Souls series, as well as Bloodborne, and the upcoming Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
