‘Alien: Blackout’ to Appear at The Game Awards This Year?

With news that gamers will potentially be returning to the Alien universe in Alien: Blackout, it seems we might see the game sooner rather than later.

Geoff Keighley, Producer of The Game Awards (and Hideo Kojima’s BFF), posted a teaser image ahead of this year’s event. The phrase “Worlds will Change” are repeated over and over with in a retro-styled computer screen look and font, and a giant “W” in the upper left corner. Longtime fans of the Alien series will note the similarities to the Weyland-Yutani Corporation’s own logo, and the image itself reminds you of something you’d have seen on the consoles on, say, the Nostromo.

Furthermore, Twitter accounts for @AlienBlackout and @Alien_Blackout have been discovered, with both being registered back in September.

Throwing a wrench into all of this speculation is Kojima himself, who visited 20th Century Fox, and later posted pictures from his visit on Twitter. That post was subsequently replied to by The Game Awards Twitter account with “World will change!”.

To add even more intrigue, Califoria-based Cold Iron Studios has been tapped to develop the game. And, according to LinkedIn pages of Cold Iron Studios’ employees, the company is not only developing the game for current gen consoles and PC, but next-gen as well.

December 6th will be interesting.
