Video Game ‘Maneater,’ Where You Play as a Killer Shark, Heads to Epic Games Store in 2019

Revealed at E3 earlier this year, Tripwire Interactive’s Maneater is one of my most anticipated games of 2019, for the simple reason that it allows you to play as a hungry killer shark. Taking cues from Majesco’s 2006 game Jaws Unleashed, you swim around in an open world environment where almost everyone and everything can be your next meal.

Today we’ve learned that Tripwire has partnered with Epic Games to release Maneater exclusively in the Epic Games Store in 2019. It’ll then hit other PC platforms 12 months later.

The single player action-RPG will now be developed in-house by Tripwire Interactive in collaboration with creative leads at Blindside Interactive. Tripwire Interactive has high expectations for Maneater and its potential to lead the popular action-RPG genre into uncharted waters, and will be devoting extra resources to assist with development.

Set in the unforgiving waters of the southern US Gulf Coast, Maneater finds players fighting to survive in rivers and streams as well as the open ocean, with danger lurking at every depth.

Your only tools are your wits, jaws, and an uncanny ability to evolve as you feed. Anything and everything is on the menu… kill or be killed. In this tale of revenge, players can take on the role of an ever-evolving shark and terrorize the coastal waterways, tearing swimmers and divers limb from limb, giving the humans a reason to fear what lies below. Immersed in a living, breathing world full of threats and rewards, players will have a vast world to explore sunken wrecks, lurk in swamps, or cruise the open ocean looking for their next unsuspecting meal.

As your shark evolves, you’ll be able to customize your maneater to fit YOUR play style.

In addition to helping out with KARMA: The Dark World, Wired Productions has also announced that their upcoming gory action title Gori: Cuddly Carnage finally has a release date. The Angry Demon Studio-developed title will arrive on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch on August 29. Digital pre-orders for the PlayStation versions include two days of early access on August 27.

Gori: Cuddly Carnage is a throwback to the games I played in the late 90’s and 2000’s,” explains Leo Zullo, Managing Director of publisher Wired Productions. “It’s pure adrenaline, fun, outrageous and really a showcase of just what indie gaming is all about – a place for creativity, freedom and the ability to make the game you want to make.”

“It’s been an incredible journey bringing this absurd and action-packed world to life, and we couldn’t be happier to finally share it with players everywhere,” says John Kalderon of Angry Demon Studio. “We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our amazing community and everyone who has been a part of this journey since 2020.”

Gori: Cuddly Carnage focuses on Cool-Toys Inc.. Fueled by insatiable demand, the toy company created Ultra Pets, the ultimate companions that never hunger, never require bathroom breaks and are impervious to the ravages of time. Little did anyone expect a mutation that would transform these perfect pets into twisted toys straight from your nightmares, hell-bent on wiping out humanity. What’s worse, the Adorable Army has kidnapped Professor Y, Gori’s creator, and the only human who showed him and his friends love.

It’s now up to Gori with his wise-cracking sentient hoverboard, F.R.A.N.K, and morose A.I companion, CH1-P, to slay the Adorable Army with explosive weaponry and devastating combos in an epic battle to prevent the Adorable Army from conquering the galaxy.
