In case you’ve been living under a rock, NetherRealm Studios’ Mortal Kombat 11 had its big reveal last week, and while we got glimpses of some of the fighters (as well as new ones), there are still plenty of reveals to be had in the coming weeks leading up to the game’s beta on March 28.
However, in an interview with DualShockers, Mortal Kombat 11‘s art director Steve Beran may have spoiled the return of one fighter in Reptile. While it’s not clear in what capacity Reptile will be in the game, when discussing the new Towers of Time feature in MK11, where you can select from a different modifiers to help you through your battles, Beran touched on a tag team modifier.
Similar to how the assist function works in the Marvel vs. Capcom series, you’ll be able to call in other fighters to help back you up for a brief period. In an example, Beran let slip that Reptile may be one of those tag partners. “Then there’s certain things like you can activate Reptile’s Acid Ball. It’s very nostalgic. You have these helpers, if you will. It’s a blast and we’re really happy about that.”
Again, Beran didn’t outright say that Reptile would be returning as a fighter, but the fact that he mentioned Reptile’s presence in the game should get fans foaming at the mouth for just who else is in the game. From what we’ve seen in the story trailer, Kung Lao, Liu Kang and possibly even Kabal will be returning.
We’ll obviously find out as the beta approaches, and of course we’ll all know once Mortal Kombat 11 hits PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch on April 23rd.
