When the full list of games was announced for Konami’s upcoming Castlevania Anniversary Collection, some were disappointed (understandably so) that we weren’t getting Rondo of Blood or Symphony of The Night in the collection. More pressing, however, was the question of just what versions we’d be getting of the original NES trilogy.
Well, according to PlayStation Blog, Konami heard your concerns, and have announced that the collection will be getting the Japanese versions of the games for free as part of a post-launch update!
For those not in the know, the original Castlevania games received not only censorship when brought over to North America, but also had some graphical and translation changes as well. You can check out The Cutting Room Floor for on the specific changes, but the main thing (for me, at least) is that we get the original Famicom Disk System soundtracks for Castlevania II and III. Details have yet to be fully revealed, but this is a welcome addition!
The Castlevania Anniversary Collection comes home for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch on May 16th.
