To the surprise of many (including myself), THQ Nordic is still working away at Dead Island 2. In a recent financial call going over the publisher’s earnings from the past quarter, Lars Wingefors, CEO of THQ Nordic, specifically mentioned the title as one of the IPs that the company is currently working on. “Dead Island 2 is still being worked on. Stay tuned,” was all that Wingefors had to say about the project, however.
Despite the 2011 original’s botched release and lukewarm sales, Dead Island 2 was announced way back in 2014 on the heels of the semi-sequel’s release, the equally-flawed Dead Island: Riptide.
It’s also worth noting that during THQ Nordic’s presentation, Dead Island 2 was still slated to come to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. This also means that with the PlayStation 5 and the next Xbox looming, we could probably hear more about this either at this year’s E3 (hold the cynicism), or within the next year.
Better stock up on that salt.
