Fans Have Begun Remaking ‘Dino Crisis’ Using Unreal Engine 4

Published

If you want something done right, you do it yourself.

In spite of Capcom’s recent success with the Resident Evil 2 remake, fans of Capcom’s other survival horror/panic horror franchise, Dino Crisis, are still left wanting. Luckily, a group of fans have taken it upon themselves to do what Capcom apparently won’t do: Remake Dino Crisis.

While still early, the group Team Arklay have released footage of their preliminary work for the remake, which is being done using the Unreal Engine 4. The hallways are deserted at the moment, but the atmosphere is definitely taking shape.

Hopefully Capcom lets these guys continue. If not, perhaps they’ll allow the team to transition to a Dino Crisis-esque game, as was the case with the fan-made Resident Evil 2 remake-turned-tribute in Daymare: 1998.

2007 FPS Horror Game ‘Dementium: The Ward’ Heads to PlayStation Today [Trailer]

In a blast from the past, developer atooi will release today Dementium: The Ward for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The first-person horror shooter originally got its start on the Nintendo DS back in 2007, before making its way to the 3DS in 2015, and finally landing on the Switch last October.

The PlayStation version of Dementium offers up “crunchy retro” and revamped HD display modes (presumably, this is similar to the free update the Switch version received last year), and has been “built from the ground up for the big screen”. Obviously, the game will lose its touchscreen capabilities from the Nintendo consoles, but will still run at a silky 60 frames per second.

Dementium: The Ward centres around William Redmoor, a man with amnesia, who wakes up in a seemingly abandoned medical ward. He soon finds out that he’s not quite as alone as he initially thought, as demonic creatures are roaming the hospital. Equipped with a flashlight and a nightstick, William must not only fend off the creatures, but also solve puzzles and find the exit and escape.

No word on if the sequel, Dementium II (which was also originally released in 2007 for the Nintendo DS), will be given the same treatment.
