While it wasn’t entirely sad when Telltale Games entered into bankruptcy (Telltale’s The Walking Dead was given a proper ending, after all), the fact that we never got the second season to The Wolf Among Us was soul-crushing. However, there’s a slim chance that we could see it, after all.
LCG Entertainment has recently purchased the assets of Telltale Games and is now looking to bring the studio back. According to a report from Polygon, LCG will look to sell Telltale’s older catalog of games in addition to working on new titles based on properties already associated with the studio. On top of that, the company is in talks to create new licensed games.
Jamie Ottilie and Brian Waddle will be the heading this new iteration of Telltale Games, with those who worked at the studio in the past are said by Ottilie to be offered contract roles at the company that may one day become full-time positions.
And yes, this new iteration of Telltale Games still holds the rights to The Wolf Among Us, as well as the Batman licence. Obviously, the one license that they no longer have is The Walking Dead, but that’s a given. Nor do they have the rights to Stranger Things, which we saw glimpses of when concepts were leaked after the studio’s closure.
As for what’s next, Ottilie states that Telltale will stay small at first and will work on “developing tools and technology”. In addition, the Telltale concept of releasing content via an episodic nature will also be changing. “We will probably keep the concept of episodes but with different pacing,” Ottilie said.
