New ‘Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy’ Trailer Details Gameplay Mechanics [Watch]
With the release date for Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy finally being confirmed earlier this week, Focus Entertainment and developer Asobo Studio have released a new extended gameplay trailer highlighting the upcoming title’s mechanics. Alongside stealth mechanics that match Resonance’s tense atmosphere, the trailer showcases the game’s visceral combat system, as well as its puzzle mechanics that are built around the manipulation of light.
Against large groups of enemies, the player must rely on agility and brutal efficiency. They will need to master precise parries and chain fast-paced attack combos with Sophia’s dagger and sword. They can also turn the environment to their advantage via the use of the grappling hook to pull enemies closer, or to hurl them into deadly hazards.
As Sophia, players will progress through the depths of the Minotaur’s Island, where Sophia will experience flashbacks to the Minoan era. She soon realizes that the mysterious presence resonating within her is none other than the legendary hero Theseus, who lived centuries before her time. Through the eyes of Theseus, she will face even more brutal and demanding trials. As new allies emerge and new enemies awaken, signs of a terrifying entity lurking in the shadows begin to surface across both eras, despite over 2000 years that separate them.
Set 15 years before A Plague Tale: Requiem, players assume the role of Sophia, a fierce young plunderer, on the run and determined to uncover the secrets of her past. Sophia’s journey leads to the Minotaur’s Island, where she faces deadly trials, navigates treacherous trails, solves puzzles, all while fighting and staying one step ahead of the army chasing her. But the true challenge awaits, as the terrifying creature hidden behind the myth will soon resonate with her.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy will launch for the Xbox Series, Day One with Xbox Game Pass, as well as PlayStation 5 and Steam on August 27.
