Unfortunately, we won’t be ripping and tearing into DOOM Eternal or DOOM 64 this year, as Bethesda have announced that both games are delayed until next year.
In an announcement, id Software states that in order to “make sure we’re delivering the best experience”, the developers have decided to push the game’s release back to March 20, 2020. “We know many fans will be disappointed by this delay, but we are confident that DOOM Eternal will deliver a gaming experience that is worth the wait.”
To compensate, id has made the following changes:
- The new Invasion Mode will now be released as a free update shortly after launch
- The Switch version of DOOM Eternal will be released after the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions
- DOOM 64 will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC in addition to the Switch, and will now be a pre-order bonus for DOOM Eternal on all platforms. DOOM 64‘s new release date is now also March 20, 2020
