To the surprise of almost no one who’s played it, the Resident Evil 2 remake has surpassed the lifetime sales of the original. Capcom made the announcement as part of their Press Release announcing the remake of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.
The Resident Evil 2 remake has surpassed five million units in sales, outselling the original Resident Evil 2 at 4.96 million sales. This takes into account the original RE2‘s figures across the PS1, PC, Nintendo 64, Nintendo Gamecube and Sega Dreamcast.
Also, remember that new mystery achievement that popped up in the game last month? It’s now been updated to make reference to a letter left by Jill Valentine, which currently cannot be obtained in the game.
Capcom still has yet to make an official announcement regarding this. But given the game’s success (well, duh), something new is coming to RE2 remake in preparation for the release of the Nemesis remake.
The Resident Evil 2 remake is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Resident Evil 3: Nemesis will be arriving on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in April 2020.
