Sony and Microsoft brought out the big guns at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, revealing details for their respective upcoming consoles. For Sony, they officially revealed the logo for the PlayStation 5, as well as revealed a few hardware features.
The PS5 will offer 3D audio sound, haptics/adaptive triggers, an ultra-high speed solid state drive, hardware-based ray tracing, and UHD Blu-ray support.
Meanwhile, Microsoft’s Series X was a part of AMD’s presentation at the event, highlighting the look of the console as well as a few of the system specs. The system will sport AMD processors for its CPU and GPU, and two ports each for HDMI and USB-C, as well as ports for a power adapter, ethernet and optical audio.
Both systems are set for a Holiday 2020 launch.
This is all well and good, you say. But what about the games? Well, Microsoft had previously revealed that Halo Infinite and Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 would be part of the lineup, while the PS5 has Counterplay Games’ Godfall. It’s also speculated that Dying Light 2 will make the leap to the next-gen systems after its Spring 2020 launch on current gen hardware.
