Larian Studios have followed through on their scheduled reveal of Baldur’s Gate III, not only gifting fans the first gameplay footage of the RPG, but also sharing a few details of the game, including the confirmation that the game will see an Early Access release.
For starters, the story for Baldur’s Gate III has the appearance of a new force in the world of the Forgotten Realms: the cult of the Absolute. Seeking to overthrow the old order, its shadowy network is chipping away at the Forgotten Realms foundations. Baldur’s Gate itself will be the first to fall.
Out of nowhere, you are kidnapped by mind flayers. A tadpole was put in your head. Upon escaping, you find ourself stranded in the middle of an inhospitable wilderness. You have only a few days to get rid of the parasite inside, or you’ll become mind flayers yourself. Desperately seek a cure, you discover the tadpole gives you godlike powers. You also find yourself centre stage of a plot hatched by none other than the Dead Three: the gods of Murder, Tyranny, and Death.
The question is, do you resist, and turn evil against itself. Or embrace corruption, and lay claim to the Forgotten Realms?
