‘Wasteland 3’, ‘Minecraft Dungeons’ Face Release Date Delays, ‘The Outer Worlds’ Launches on Switch in June

Given the shift to working remotely for many game developers, the announcement that release dates are being juggled is not surprising. The latest titles to have their dates shifted include developer inXile Entertainment’s Wasteland 3, and Microsoft’s dungeon crawler, Minecraft Dungeons.

In a Twitter post, inXile studio head Brian Fargo cited “logistical challenges” that came about from transitioning to a work-from-home environment due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic for Wasteland 3‘s shift from its original May 19 release date to August 28. It will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

As for Minecraft Dungeons, the game was originally scheduled for an April release, however in a new message from developer Mojang, the shift to working from home has caused Mojang’s workflows to be affected. “We’re working hard to deliver Minecraft Dungeons in April, but we’re also re-evaluating our timeline to make sure we bring you the best game possible.” Minecraft Dungeons is planned for Xbox One, PS4, Switch, and PC.

It’s not all bad news, however, as the originally-delayed Switch release for Obsidian’s The Outer Worlds now has a June 5 release. As mentioned previously, the delay has allowed Virtuos, the Singaporean company handling the port, to create a physical copy for release, instead of a digital version. A day one patch is also planned, which is potentially planned at around 6GB, and adds high-res textures, various gameplay optimizations, and more.

The Outer Worlds is also available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
