Mick Gordon Hid ‘DOOM II’ Cover Art in ‘DOOM Eternal’ Soundtrack

Published

on

Despite its issues, Mick Gordon’s soundtrack to DOOM Eternal is still very much the adrenaline-pumping affair that fans needed. And apparently, he’s vowed to fix the soundtrack himself. On top of that, much like he did with DOOM 2016‘s soundtrack, Gordon hid a little something in the files.

Posted by a Reddit user, in the spectrogram for the track “Welcome Home Great Slayer”, Gordon once again placed a hidden image: The cover art for DOOM II. This actually looks creepier than the original coloured art, to be fair. No one has found any backmasked phrases yet, but there might be more goodies like this out there.

Whether or not Gordon comes back for a sequel/expansion to DOOM Eternal (because let’s face it: Bethesda knows it’d be stupid to let DOOM slide into dormancy) remains to be seen, but at least we’ve got some cool Easter eggs to relish.

DOOM Eternal is out now on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

For those visual novel fans who have devoured Slay The Princess after its recent major update, and are looking for more, can check out 2P Games and Universe Studio’s Japanese-style horror mystery visual novel, Other Side of Mist and Mountain. Available now on Steam with a 10% launch discount until April 11, the game transports you back to 2010, with you investigating the disappearance of your girlfriend five years earlier.

Other Side of Mist and Mountain centres on Shizuno Yokoyama, a young man who became a detective after the disappearance of his girlfriend Maha back in 2005. Maha had mysteriously vanished at a train station on her way to a flash mob organized by an occult forum. What’s even stranger is that the train station itself disappeared too.

Now specialized in investigating occult cases, Shizuno has never stopped searching for Maha. Suddenly some new cases bring clues that might get him closer to an answer — but as his investigation deepens, so does the web of mysteries.

Players will solve puzzles and investigate clues to advance through a story that blends elements of horror, mystery, deduction, and folk tales. Your choices matter, as depending on the decisions you make along the way, they will trigger different storylines. As you explore the world around you and engaging in dialogues with a variety of characters, you’ll need to pay attention to every little detail in each scene in order to solve the mystery of Maha’s disappearance.
