‘Anthology of Fear’ Devs Release Free Prologue Chapter on Steam Plus New Gameplay Trailer

Published

Last year, Ultimate Games S.A. and RG Crew had announced their video game horror anthology series, Anthology of Fear. They’ve now released not only new gameplay footage from the upcoming anthology, but also a free prologue, which you can download on Steam!

“Each of the three stories will be radically different from the others,” explains Piotr Rycąbel, Lead Programmer at RG Crew. “This means both differences in terms of mood and location, but also main themes and the gameplay itself. Fear is not unambiguous, it can have very different faces, which Anthology of Fear will clearly demonstrate. There is no place for weariness here, and the whole experience will be very diverse.”

The prologue consists of the introductory part of the first story, set in picturesque mountain regions and involving, among others, the theme of reality distortions. The second story is set in modern times, with the main themes concerning alienation and the creative act. Finally, the last part of Anthology of Fear will focus on the theme of memories, and take place in an indefinite space and time.

RG Crew emphasize that each of these episodes will offer a different gameplay style. While playing through the stories, the players can count on sections involving, among others, stealth,
exploration, fighting, hunting and escaping. “This is our original and quite broad take on the genre,” explains Rycąbel. “Anthology of Fear is a unique project that will provide players with different experiences. We are focusing on ambiguity and diversity. The game should appeal to the vast majority of horror fans.”

Anthology of Fear is set for release in the second half of 2020 on PC and Nintendo Switch, while Ultimate Games S.A. hasn’t ruled out the possibility that the horror will also hit other platforms.

Come Face to Face With the Zombie Menace in the Story Trailer for ‘Zombie Army VR’ [Watch]

While there’s no definitive release date just yet, Rebellion is teasing fans with a new story trailer for the upcoming Zombie Army VR, which is expected to arrive later this year. The new trailer gives fans and prospective players a glimpse at the Zombie Army VR story campaign, which as you might have guessed, involves occult magic, waves of zombies, and plenty of headshots.

The game’s campaign takes place alongside the events of the Zombie Army series, and sees you take to the field as one of the Deadhunters, an elite squad that is hunting down zombie war criminals. You must fight your way through undead hordes near the bombed-out city of Nuremberg to help Captain Hermann Wolff, the Deadhunter’s legendary leader, find his scattered family and fight to free Europe from the zombie apocalypse.

As you navigate the full-length story campaign either alone or with an ally, you’ll have access to an arsenal of authentic World War II weaponry, including sniper rifles, submachine guns, pistols and more. As one would expect, VR brings a new level of immersion to the action of the Zombie Army series, which will require you to “get to grips” with using your hands to aim your rifle, dual-wield your side arm with a submachine gun, master reloading drills, and tossing grenades.

Zombie Army VR is currently in development for the PlayStation VR2, Meta Quest 2, 3, Pro, Oculus Rift and PC headsets via Steam.
