New Easter Eggs Discovered For ‘The Last of Us Part II’ as Part of New Difficulty Options
To go along with the recent update to The Last of Us Part II, Naughty Dog snuck in a few Easter Eggs as rewards for managing to finish the game’s punishing new modes.
For those that missed it, the 1.05 update introduced the Grounded difficulty, as well as a Permadeath option. Grounded (which was also included in the first game) increases the game difficulty by increasing enemy damage, as well as making ammo, upgrade and crafting materials scarcer. If you manage to beat the game, your reward is unlocking Joel’s cover of Pearl Jam’s “Future Days”, which can be heard in its entirety post-Grounded credit roll.
A similar Easter Egg exists for Permadeath. Finish the game with Permadeath enabled, and you’re treated to Shawn James “Through the Valley” during the credits, which was used in trailers and ads promoting The Last of Us Part II.
Meanwhile, Naughty Dog is currently at work on the standalone multiplayer component for TLOU2, which had footage leaked a few weeks back.
The Last of Us Part II is out now on PlayStation 4, with a PlayStation 5 version in the works.

If you haven’t yet checked out Aniplex Inc. and JOYCITY Corporation’s Resident Evil Survival Unit, the free-to-play real-time strategy game has just announced a new collaboration with another Capcom property in Monster Hunter to entice prospective players. Kicking off on July 2 and running until July 29, the limited-time collaboration will introduce Monster Hunter–inspired elements into the post-apocalyptic world of Resident Evil Survival Unit, adding large-scale monster encounters to the game’s strategic systems.
Details on the collaboration are being kept under wraps for now, but during the event, players will be able to participate in collaboration-exclusive in-game events that will earn them special rewards inspired by the Monster Hunter series. We do get a brief teaser trailer for the upcoming event, which in addition to teasing various monsters for players to battle, also promises new units for players to recruit.
Set in a parallel world inspired by the Resident Evil universe, the game features an original storyline and real-time strategic gameplay designed for mobile platforms.
