Grab Lovecraftian Action-Puzzler ‘Magrunner: Dark Pulse’ For Free on Steam; ‘The Sinking City’ Pulled From Digital Stores

Published

It must be Christmas in August. Actually, it’s Frogwares having their 20th anniversary sale on Steam. As such, several of their titles are heavily discounted, albeit for two. One is their recent Cthulhu mythos game The Sinking City (more on that in a bit), the other is Magrunner: Dark Pulse. The latter of which is available for free!

That’s right, you can grab 2013’s action-puzzle game in which technology confronts the Cthulhu Mythos. Magrunner is available for free on Steam until August 27th, so grab it here now.

Now as for The Sinking City, this is an unfortunate bit of news: The game has been pulled from Steam. The reasoning is due to a dispute with the publisher, Nacon, formerly known as BigBen Interactive. According to Frogwares, they have pulled the game from Steam, along with the Microsoft Store and PlayStation Stores, due to the termination of the agreement with Nacon after Frogwares alleges that Nacon breached several clauses of the licensing agreement for the game.

The contract was terminated earlier this year after Frogwares claims that Nacon was behind on payments during production, but Nacon has still been receiving revenue from sales of The Sinking City since the termination, compelling Frogwares to pull the game. Frogwares claims Nacon owes around €1 million in royalties.

Luckily for Switch users, since Frogwares self-published the title, you can still get the game there.

No word on when The Sinking City will return to digital storefronts, but this sort of thing doesn’t get resolved very quickly.
