Kong Invades Toho’s ‘Godzilla Battle Line’ as Part of ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ Promotion

Published

on

In another “no brainer” moment, Toho has announced that their recently-released mobile game Godzilla Battle Line will be receiving an epic crossover on July 1 with Legendary Pictures’ Godzilla vs. Kong. Inspired by the success of the film (and really, we can’t blame them), the “Earth’s Ultimate Showdown” event will see Kong join Godzilla Battle Line as a playable character.

Players can obtain Kong by clearing special missions or exploring Expedition Maps that can be won in ranked battles. Godzilla vs. Kong‘s Skull Island will appear as an Expedition Map at certain times of the day for a limited time during this event, allowing you to potentially face him.

After obtaining Kong, players can use him as the team leader, as well as use his “Earth Break” Special Move, which deals damage in a circular area, and increases damage dealt by allied units with an energy cost of 4+ on the battlefield by 20% for 15 seconds.

Kong is expected to be available over the next seven months, so you’ve got some time to grab him. You can also grab the Skull Island Expedition Map from the in-game shop to increase the chances of him showing up.

Ninja Theory had its own surprise at the Xbox Games Showcase, announcing that a third entry in the Hellblade series is in development, and unlike the previous entry, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, you won’t have to wait five years to play. Simply titled Senua, the game will launch in 2027 for will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store.

Taking place after the events of Hellblade and Hellblade II, Senua is set in a fractured vision of purgatory, where a Celtic warrior (which is Senua) must fight to reach the afterlife and reunite with those she has loved and lost. Story details are purposely being kept under wraps for now, but players can expect to confront threats both within and without, master tactical combat to overcome nightmarish creatures, and explore a fantastical world shaped by myth and memory.

“It was important for us in developing Senua that we make a game Hellblade fans will love, but for it to be a game for new players, too,” explains Ninja Theory in a post to Steam. “If you’re a fan of story-led, premium action-adventure games with visceral combat, vivid worlds and fantastical enemies (including boss fights!), there’s a lot to be excited about in Senua.”
