It was only a few weeks back that developers Dual Effect and Abstract Digital announced that their upcoming survival horror title Tormented Souls would be headed to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Today they’ve announced that the game will finally launch both physically and digitally for the PlayStation 5, and digitally for Xbox Series and PC via Steam on August 27.
Meanwhile, the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch versions will arrive at a later date, with the PS4 and Switch receiving both physical and digital releases.
And if you can’t wait for the game, don’t worry. Dual Effect and Abstract Digital have released a demo featuring the first 40 minutes of Tormented Souls on the PlayStation Store and on Steam.
The story for Tormented Souls centres around the small town of Winterlake. While investigating the disappearance of twin girls at the Winterlake Mansion, Caroline Walker wakes in the dead of night, naked and alone, hooked up to medical equipment.
As the previous inhabitants of Winterlake roam the halls, Caroline must scavenge resources and tools to decipher clues and defend herself from whatever lurks in the darkness.

‘The Sinking City 2’ Rises to August 18 Release Date; Demo Shadow Dropped [Trailer]
After teasing fans last month, Frogwares has announced an August 18 release date for The Sinking City 2. Announced during the Future Games Show, the developer also shadow dropped a new demo, along with a new trailer, appropriately titled “Welcome to Arkham.”
As for the demo, players will get to experience the opening hour of the full game and offers an early look at Frogwares’ take on survival horror. It also provides the first opportunity to properly meet the new protagonist, occult adventurer Calvin Rafferty, and begin uncovering the reasons behind his tragic and arduous journey into the flooded and Eldritch monster-infested city of Arkham.
Set in a Lovecraftian vision of 1920s America, in the infamous city of Arkham, a supernatural flood has driven out all but the most deranged residents, leaving decay and eldritch horrors that roam the streets. Players step into the role of Calvin Rafferty, an occult adventurer whose cavalier actions have led to devastating consequences. After a dreaming ritual goes wrong, his girlfriend, Faye, is left trapped in a mysterious sleep. Now Calvin must navigate the drowned streets of a derelict city in a desperate attempt to bring her back. On his quest, he’ll come face to face with a plague of otherworldly creatures, the Slither, who possess and twist the dead into lethal, walking puppets.
The Sinking City 2 is currently in development for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. And while you wait for that demo to download, check out Harrison’s preview.
