‘Resident Evil Village’ Has Now Sold 5.7 Million Units; ‘Resident Evil 7’ Is Still Franchise Best
Because we’ve already had one sales update today regarding one Survival Horror franchise, why not have another? As per the usual, Capcom has updated its list of “Platinum Titles“ to December 31, 2021. And to no one’s surprise, Resident Evil Village keeps on rolling, having now sold 5.7 million units since its launch last year.
The update details that Village sold an additional 900,000 units across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC since the September update. Obviously, Village isn’t the only Resident Evil game that’s been raking in the numbers, as the Resident Evil 2 remake has now sold 9.3 million units across PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, while Resident Evil 7: biohazard now stands at 10.6 million units sold.
However, RE7‘s sales don’t come close to Monster Hunter World‘s dominance of Capcom’s charts, having now earned 17.8 million units in sales. And that’s not including Monster Hunter World: Iceborne‘s 8.8 million units sold. Meanwhile, Devil May Cry 5 continues to be the top-selling entry of the franchise, having now sold 4.8 million units across PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
In case you’re curious about the Dead Rising franchise, Dead Rising 2 is still on top with 3.1 million units.
Obviously, we’re still waiting on that DLC for Village, which will hopefully have some info revealed later this year. Not to mention that Resident Evil Re:Verse is expected sometime this year.
And, if you’re looking to add to that total, Village is currently enjoying a 50% discount on Steam during the Lunar New Year Sale.
