‘V Rising’ Gets Massive Halloween Update, Free Time-Limited DLC [Trailer]

Published

on

It’s a no-brainer that Stunlock Studios would have a massive Halloween update for their open-world vampire survival game V Rising. The game still remains popular after its launch earlier this year, and if you haven’t jumped in and played, Stunlock is also offering a free weekend of play later this week.

Available today, in addition to the usual tweaks and bug fixes for V Rising, the Halloween update introduces the new Mad Hunt preset to the servers. When playing in the new preset, V Blood locations, V Blood spell unlocks, and V Blood technologies will be randomized around the map. You’ll still be required to acquire certain technologies at certain points so as not to make progression frustrating or impossible, however. In addition, the ability to randomize these V Blood elements will all be separate settings available in private servers.

On top of that, players can also enjoy the free time-limited Haunted Nights Castle Pack DLC, which is available until November 7th. The DLC includes a number of Halloween-themed cosmetic items for your castle that you can use all year round. In order to claim the DLC, you’ll need to snag the base game.

Lastly, if you’re still on the fence about plunking down your money for V Rising, there’s the free weekend of play from October 28th through November 1st.

‘El Paso, Elsewhere’ – LaKeith Stanfield Starring in Adaptation of Monster Hunting Video Game

Published

Last year’s monster hunting shooter El Paso, Elsewhere is headed to the screen, with THR reporting that LaKeith Stanfield (Haunted Mansion) will star in the live action film adaptation.

Stanfield will also produce the film alongside Lorenzo di Bonaventura.

THR notes in today’s report, “There is no writer or director, as the project is still being packaged in the hopes of finding a studio home. The package is seen as buzzy, as it is a video game adaptation, a bustling genre thanks to titles such as The Last of Us, the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, and the most recent hit, Fallout.”

In the upcoming movie version of El Paso, Elsewhere, “Recovering from a toxic relationship, James Savage (LaKeith Stanfield) confronts both his inner demons and enigmatic ex-girlfriend, Janet, before she executes a world-ending ritual. James navigates her reality-bending universe of ethereal monsters while facing the truth of his own addictions and skewed sense of self-worth. James learns that the only route to love is through healing.”

Developer Strange Scaffold’s El Paso, Elsewhere was released this past September.

Aaron Boehm wrote in his 4-star review here on Bloody Disgusting, “Much like its inspiration Max Payne, and other games in Remedy’s catalog, there’s a clear vision that unites every frame of this game, making for an experience that both reignites a classic action subgenre and forges an identity all its own. Few games have a better elevator pitch than El Paso, Elsewhere, and it’s awesome to see it live up to those expectations with style and heart.”
