Hellish Co-op Shooter ‘Perish’ Launches February 2023 [Trailer]

Developer ITEM42 and publisher HandyGames have announced that their classical mythology-inspired first-person co-op shooter Perish (which we talked about last year) will see the light of day next year. Perish will launch on PC on Thursday, February 2, 2023 for Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG.

If you missed what the game was about the first time, Perish sees you and up to three friends enter blood-soaked underworlds inspired by ancient mythologies, all accompanied by a death-metal soundtrack and a lust for gold. Face waves of foes as you battle your way to Elysium, a place reserved for mortals related to the gods and heroes. Stave off  death and slay hordes of infernal creatures on the black sands of Purgatory.

Speaking of these creatures, the same lust for gold that motivates your own craving consumes the revenant creatures within Purgatory. If you meet your fate at the hands of these creatures, you’ll be forced to lose precious wealth and begin again. On the other hand, you’ll be selling the corpses of these creatures in exchange for increasingly powerful melee weapons and firearms. Each weapon will have its own unique and upgradeable offensive capabilities.

“Combining classical mythology and FPS, with multiplayer and roguelike elements forced us to push a lot of boundaries during Perish‘s development,” said Regan Ware, Co-Founder, ITEM42. “While we are saddened it will no longer be released on Google Stadia, players will be able to access our game from an amazing store lineup including Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG.”

Come Face to Face With the Zombie Menace in the Story Trailer for ‘Zombie Army VR’ [Watch]

While there’s no definitive release date just yet, Rebellion is teasing fans with a new story trailer for the upcoming Zombie Army VR, which is expected to arrive later this year. The new trailer gives fans and prospective players a glimpse at the Zombie Army VR story campaign, which as you might have guessed, involves occult magic, waves of zombies, and plenty of headshots.

The game’s campaign takes place alongside the events of the Zombie Army series, and sees you take to the field as one of the Deadhunters, an elite squad that is hunting down zombie war criminals. You must fight your way through undead hordes near the bombed-out city of Nuremberg to help Captain Hermann Wolff, the Deadhunter’s legendary leader, find his scattered family and fight to free Europe from the zombie apocalypse.

As you navigate the full-length story campaign either alone or with an ally, you’ll have access to an arsenal of authentic World War II weaponry, including sniper rifles, submachine guns, pistols and more. As one would expect, VR brings a new level of immersion to the action of the Zombie Army series, which will require you to “get to grips” with using your hands to aim your rifle, dual-wield your side arm with a submachine gun, master reloading drills, and tossing grenades.

Zombie Army VR is currently in development for the PlayStation VR2, Meta Quest 2, 3, Pro, Oculus Rift and PC headsets via Steam.
