Exclusive Trailer: A Mash-up of Genres in Survival Horror Game ‘Suffer the Night’
Indie publisher Assemble Entertainment and developer Tainted Pact have announced a new mash-up of first person and text-based horror in Suffer the Night. An homage to classic slasher films, Suffer the Night will arrive later this year on Steam. In fact, you can check out the game’s demo today!
In Suffer the Night, players take on the role of Stacey Liden, a painter isolated in her cabin in the woods who specializes in horror illustrations. After receiving an envelope containing a mysterious floppy disk, Stacy boots it up on her old PC and begins playing. As she progresses through the terror of the text-based adventure, she’s visited by a mysterious stranger, who quickly turns threatening, urging her to finish the game. As she does so, the strange horror within the game begin to seep into the real world.
As you might expect, Suffer the Night has a “game within a game” motif, seeing you play through a text-based dungeon crawler filled with grisly scenarios and vivid descriptions of the atrocities wherein. You’ll need to flex your old-school gaming muscles in order to progress.
Making matters worse is the aforementioned stranger that has taken a keen interest in you finishing the game. That’s not to say that he won’t hesitate to make his presence known for other things. You’ll have to address his disruptions throughout your playtime, or suffer the consequences.
“We are thrilled beyond words to welcome Suffer the Night, our first true foray into horror, into our games catalogue,” said Stefan Marcinek, CEO and founder of Assemble Entertainment. “Tainted Pact has woven together an impressive blend of dread and nostalgia, and we’re excited to be able to help bring this story of terror and woe to life.”

Physical PS5 Release Announced for Underwater Horror Title ‘Dark Mass’ [Trailer]
Path Games provided an update for its in-development underwater haunted house title Dark Mass, revealing that the game will receive a physical release for PlayStation 5 as both a Standard Edition and a Collector’s Edition. The reveal also coincides with a new trailer that delves into the gameplay.
Dark Mass sees players take on the role of Alice, a deep-sea explorer who, alongside her brother Reed, stumbles upon the wreckage of an ancient ship. But beneath the ship lies they discover a manor lost to time, eerily untouched despite spending centuries in the ocean.

Trapped within the manor’s decaying halls, Alice must now uncover the manor’s tragic past, solve puzzles based on real historical torture rituals, and make decisions that will ultimately define her fate.
Both the Standard Edition and Collector’s Edition will be published by SelectaPlay, with the Collector’s Edition having been designed “for horror fans and collectors,” bringing together a selection of physical items inspired by Alice’s journey, the mystery of the sunken manor and the unsettling atmosphere of the abyss.
