‘Alan Wake 2’ Bumped to October 27 Release

Published

on

We’ll have to wait a few days more for Alan Wake 2 this October. Originally scheduled for an October 17th release, Epic Games and Remedy have announced that the highly-anticipated follow-up to the 2010 original will now be coming out on October 27th for PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5 & Xbox Series.

The official Alan Wake 2 Twitter/X account posted the delay, saying that the month—which already includes Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 1, and Alone in the Dark, to name a few— is “amazing” for game launches, and the shift in release dates “gives more space for everyone to enjoy their favorite games”. Remedy also plugs Alan Wake 2‘s appearance next week at Gamescom, teasing additional reveals for the game.

Understandably, October is crammed with releases, so it only makes sense that Alan Wake 2 makes a bit of breathing room for itself to avoid getting lost in the mix.

Alan Wake 2 centres on the eponymous writer and Saga Anderson, an FBI profiler with a reputation for solving unsolvable cases. Anderson arrives in Bright Falls to investigate a string of ritualistic murders, which soon slides into a nightmare when Anderson discovers pages of a horror story, a horror story that starts to come true…

Meanwhile, Alan Wake is trapped in a nightmare prison beyond our world, writing a dark story to shape reality in a desperate bid to escape. Hunted by an insatiable horror, Wake struggles to retain his sanity and beat the devil at his own game.

Gothic Horror Survivor Title ‘When the Light Dies’ Out Now in Early Access [Trailer]

Initially revealed last July, PQube and developer Electric Monkeys’ gothic horror survival title When the Light Dies is out now in Early Access on Steam. Complementing the release is a new trailer/gameplay guide. According to the press release, Electric Monkeys plans on having the roguelike to be fully released in September 2024.

According to the developer, the Early Access period will allow them to polish and address player feedback for When the Light Dies, releasing new updates containing everything from new enemies, weapons, items, passive upgrades, and dark magic abilities, to end-of-stage bosses. In fact, the next update for When the Light Dies is expected on May 28, which will include new items, a new weapon and an additional boss encounter “to add an extra level of challenge”.

When the Light Dies is a survival game with roguelite elements set in a desolate, frozen wilderness. You are a lone survivor fighting to keep the darkness and the horrors that lurk within it at bay. To do so, you must utilize your arsenal of weapons to hold back waves of creatures closing in from all directions.

That’s on top of keeping the light burning by lighting scattered firepits around you. You’ll of course have to refill your oil lantern to keep your path lit. As the light levels drop so does your sanity, resulting in faster and more deadly adversaries.

Right now, you can snag When the Light Dies with a 10% discount until May 16th.
