With fellow kaiju Kong getting a new game next month, it’s about time that Godzilla got another one. Announced on the official Godzilla website, TOHO Games and Nukenin are giving turn-based strategy gamers some love with Godzilla Voxel Wars this November on Steam.
As the name implies, the game is presented in a voxel style akin to Minecraft. Voxel Wars puts you in control of Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah, and other TOHO monsters as you rampage across six worlds in order to save the world by repelling the invasion of the Fungoid mushroom menace in turn-based combat. The fewer turns you take to clear a stage, the more points you’ll earn.
Each of the six worlds includes multiple 8×8 grid stages for you to take on. On each stage, you’ll have to grapple with different monsters and try different approaches in order to achieve victory. You can also repeat stages to earn more points. The stages can each be flipped to reveal another playable side that comes with increased difficulty.
You can also build your own stages and share them for other players to try. There will also be online leaderboards for those who complete stages in the fewest attempts and net the highest scores.
