Cosmic Horror Game ‘The Chant’ Receives Free DLC “The Gloom Below” Next Week [Trailer]

Published

Fans of developer Brass Token’s cosmic horror adventure game The Chant will be getting a treat in the form of free DLC next week with “The Gloom Below”. Set for release on September 12 for PC and consoles, the new DLC takes players on the next step of the adventure, after they escape the horrors of Glory Island, and into the depths of a surreal and twisted merging of The Gloom and the physical world.

Working alongside the cursed Anton Family and following the stories of trapped cultists, players need to fight their way through unpredictable encounters and gather the ingredients required to destroy the heart of The Gloom. In addition to the new lore, “The Gloom Below” brings with it upgraded abilities, new weapons and some new foes.

As such, the DLC will have significant focus on the combat and action elements of the game, with each death leading players closer to their escape, so finding the right build will be paramount.

The DLC is free to anyone who owns the base game. However, it will need to be redeemed manually rather than an auto-update. As further incentive for those who have yet to experience The Chant, and to celebrate the release of “The Gloom Below”, Brass Token are permanently reducing the price of the main game.

The Chant is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam.

Survios Announces VR Title ‘Alien: Rogue Incursion’, Coming This Year [Trailer]

Remember back in 2022 when developer Survios had announced that they were teaming up with 20th Century Games to develop a new Alien title? Well seeing as it’s Alien Day, Survios has announced their brand-new VR title, Alien: Rogue Incursion. Coming “Holiday 2024” to the PlayStation VR2, SteamVR, and Quest 3, Rogue Incursion will feature an original story that “fully surrounds players within the terrors of the Alien universe”.

Details on the game are light at the moment, but the official site describes the upcoming title as being “designed by Alien fans for Alien fans”, with Survios aiming to craft a “technically advanced, and frightfully immersive Alien virtual reality game.”

Seeing as Alien: Isolation never got official VR support when it was released, this is obviously a welcome announcement. In the meantime, if you’re keen to experience an Alien game in VR, you can always check out the fan-made mod for Alien: Isolation by Nibre_, which allows both the Steam and Epic Games Store version of Alien: Isolation to be played using the Oculus.

And speaking of Alien: Isolation, as you might expect, it’s got a hefty 80% discount going on at the moment on Steam until May 1. So if you still haven’t grabbed it after all these years, this is as good a time as any.
