Red Barrels continues to dole out the goods for The Outlast Trials, this time with a new Halloween update. Arriving October 26, the update will coincide with a Steam and Epic Games Store sale from October 26 – November 2 that includes a 20% discount for the Early Access game, as well as the release of the Official Soundtrack on Spotify.

The Halloween update includes the introduction of new Trial ‘Program 4: Courthouse’ and new Weekly Programs for The Outlast Trials, as well as additional MK-Challenges, and Program Geister; a limited-time Halloween event that includes special rewards. Subjects can also anticipate new Amps, Variators, Prescriptions, Cosmetics, Cell Items, and a Sleep Room Minigame, as well as numerous quality-of-life enhancements.

Alongside the updates and improvements, the team also addressed other areas of the game:

  • Reward efforts even in the event of failing a Trial
  • Penalising group players not participating in Trials
  • Improve the Trial selection process as a group
  • Keep improving the solo experience
  • Keep improving the AI behaviour in some edge case situations

Lastly, audiophiles will be able to listen to the official soundtrack of The Outlast Trials by composer Tom Salta (Deathloop, Halo, Ghost Recon) on Spotify on October 25.

The Outlast Trials is currently in Early Access on PC on Steam and the Epic Games Store. And don’t forget to check out the recent making-of documentary about the game.

Survios Announces VR Title ‘Alien: Rogue Incursion’, Coming This Year [Trailer]

Remember back in 2022 when developer Survios had announced that they were teaming up with 20th Century Games to develop a new Alien title? Well seeing as it’s Alien Day, Survios has announced their brand-new VR title, Alien: Rogue Incursion. Coming “Holiday 2024” to the PlayStation VR2, SteamVR, and Quest 3, Rogue Incursion will feature an original story that “fully surrounds players within the terrors of the Alien universe”.

Details on the game are light at the moment, but the official site describes the upcoming title as being “designed by Alien fans for Alien fans”, with Survios aiming to craft a “technically advanced, and frightfully immersive Alien virtual reality game.”

Seeing as Alien: Isolation never got official VR support when it was released, this is obviously a welcome announcement. In the meantime, if you’re keen to experience an Alien game in VR, you can always check out the fan-made mod for Alien: Isolation by Nibre_, which allows both the Steam and Epic Games Store version of Alien: Isolation to be played using the Oculus.

And speaking of Alien: Isolation, as you might expect, it’s got a hefty 80% discount going on at the moment on Steam until May 1. So if you still haven’t grabbed it after all these years, this is as good a time as any.
