In a no-brainer move, Mintrocket’s hit Dave the Diver is receiving new DLC in the form of a crossover with Black Salt Games’ Lovecraftian fishing game DREDGE on December 15th. The new DLC will include new fish types, new recipes, and a new NPC all from the world of DREDGE for free!

“It was pretty awesome to see great success for another studio inspired by the infinite possibilities of an ocean-faring adventure, especially one with fishing at the core of the experience much like our own,” says Game Director Jaeho Hwang of Mintrocket. “Creating this crossover DLC is what our passionate fans in the community have been eager for, so combining our two distinct flavors in this DLC makes so much sense. We hope it’s full of fun experiences for all players.”

“We’ve been fans of Mintrocket’s Dave the Diver since early access and like millions of others, have enjoyed hours exploring the Giant Blue Hole,” says the Black Salt Games team. “We were amazed to find our admiration was mutual when their team reached out to us after we launched DREDGE, our own contribution to the rising Rod-like genre. This collaboration marries two unique fishing experiences and showcases what’s great about the gaming spirit in our community; celebrating each other’s work and delivering a great time for our players.”

Dave the Diver is available now on Steam and the Nintendo Switch. DREDGE is available now on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch.

We’ll be waiting a little while longer for developer Studio Cut to Bits’ gothic Metroidvania Venture to the Vile. Originally slated to launch on PC via Steam on May 7, the game has now been pushed a couple of weeks to May 22. The PlayStation release of Venture to the Vile is still expected later this year.

In a press release, Venture to the Vile producer Masao Kobayashi explains the decision to delay the release, stating that while Studio Cut to Bits is made up of industry veterans, this is the first time that the team has released a game as indie developers. As such, the team encountered a few hurdles leading up to the original release date.

“We all love Venture to the Vile and want to make sure we are delivering the best possible game we can for our players. For this reason, we have decided to delay our game by two weeks. I’m sorry to those who have been anticipating our game but I assure you it is going to be worth the wait.”

Venture to the Vile centres on the town of Rainybrook, where an unknown darkness is taking over, transforming anything and anyone it touches. Fortunately for you, you seem to be unaffected by this presence. However, your friend Ella is nowhere to be seen. You must brave the horrors and find her.
