Unofficial Sixth ‘Doom’ Episode ‘SIGIL II’ Now Available for Free From John Romero

Published

on

It’s the 30th anniversary of Doom, and designer John Romero has given fans a treat in the form of SIGIL II. The sequel to Romero’s free 2019 original, the sequel is touted as the unofficial sixth episode for the original Doom, and sports nine new levels, eight new multiplayer arenas, a new soundtrack by James Paddock, and more. And yes, just in case you’re unsure, SIGIL II is also free to download. You just need a registered version of Doom to play it.

And much like the original release of SIGIL, Romero has put together a physical big box edition of SIGIL II for the collectors. All boxes can be autographed, if you so choose, with the autographs under the shrink wrap. Signed then sealed.

So, just what do you get? There are three variants available, depending on your level of nostalgia. You can either get SIGIL II on USB, USB + signed 3.5″ floppy, or USB + signed 3.5″ + signed 5.25″ floppy. On top of that, you get the following:

Custom SIGIL II Big Box Shotgun Shell USB Edition:

  • Custom SIGIL II Big Box

  • SIGIL II cover poster (A3)

  • Romero Games full-size cinch bag

  • Sticker sheet with five stickers

  • Shotgun glitter sticker

  • SIGIL II disk pin

  • SIGIL II Gates of Hell heavy superpin

  • Extra code for full SIGIL II WAD with music via email

  • Shotgun Shell USB

    • SIGIL II nine-level WAD

    • Making of SIGIL II video

    • Making of SIGIL II story by David L Craddock

    • SIGIL II original soundtrack by THORR

    • SIGIL II original MIDI soundtrack by James Paddock

    • Readme.txt

If you want to go all out, the USB + signed 3.5″ + signed 5.25″ floppy edition also includes a SIGIL II logo t-shirt, which thankfully you can specify the size. And for those who are curious, Romero still has a few SIGIL big boxes left over from years back, so you can also grab one of those, if you so choose.

And, as an extra special treat, John Romero got together with fellow id Software alumni John Carmack and author David L. Craddock for an hour-long discussion on Doom for its 30th anniversary.

Upcoming “Unholy Alliance” Update for ‘Cult of the Lamb’ Adds Local Co-op and More [Teaser]

Published

on

Cult of the Lamb players will be getting more free goodies later this summer with the Unholy Alliance update. Coming August 12, the update introduces a brand new playable character in the Goat, which coincides with the game allowing local co-op.

With the Unholy Alliance update, the entire Cult of the Lamb campaign will be playable in local co-op. Players will also be able to enjoy special 2-player versions of existing mini-games, such as Fishing and Knucklebones, as well as choose from a selection of weapons, tarot cards, curses, and corrupted relics as your cooperative crusades progress.

The Lamb and Goat can also swap weapons, deal extra damage when fighting back to back, and even deliver a critical hit when their attacks are in sync. Good news for those who prefer to stay alone in their corner: they will be able to benefit from various new powers.

In addition to the addition of cooperative play, the Unholy Alliance expansion adds several tarot cards, relics, buildings, fleeces, character traits and quests, as well as the addition of new secrets to discover.

More information on the update will be released as the launch date creeps closer. Cult of The Lamb is available now on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and the Nintendo Switch.
