Previously known as Level Zero, tinybuild and DogHowl Games have announced that the now-titled Level Zero: Extraction will now be coming to Steam later this year via Early Access. In addition, the team will be conducting a Closed Beta test on Steam starting on March 15.
Advertised as a new take on asymmetical multiplayer, Level Zero: Extraction pits a team of scientists against a relentless pack of aliens in a deadly contest of wits and stealth. Four players assume the role of a team of human scientists, scrambling to repair their research facility’s power systems. The science team must coordinate and communicate to search for vital tools, failing fuse panels and vital sources of light such as flares and glowsticks.
Lurking in the darkness are two player-controlled aliens that continually respawn. Armed with razor-sharp claws, blinding spit, the ability to place living land-mines, disable electrical systems with an organic EMP blast or disarm their prey with a primal scream, the aliens must track the four scientists through their heartbeats in order to kill them. Unfortunately for the aliens, their only real weakness is light itself, burning them up to ash in an instant. This unique gameplay mechanic allows humans to strategically use light sources across the map to stave off the aliens.
