Nightdive’s ‘System Shock’ Remake Will Finally Hit PlayStation and Xbox Consoles on May 21 [Trailer]

PlayStation and Xbox gamers waiting on Nightdive Studios’ System Shock remake have finally gotten their answer. Released for PC last May, Nightdive has announced that the remake to the 1994 cult classic sci-fi horror FPS will arrive on May 21, complete with an expanded ending, a new female hacker protagonist and more.

In case you missed it, the System Shock remake combines the gameplay of the original title with all-new HD visuals while keeping a stylized “pixelated” look to its textures, updated controls, an overhauled interface, and all-new sounds and music. The console release—which will arrive on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and the Xbox Series—features numerous improvements from the PC release, including the addition of a revised ending that upgrades the final confrontation with SHODAN, as well as the ability to play as a female hacker protagonist.

System Shock takes place in the year 2072. You are a nameless hacker, and you’ve been caught while attempting to access files concerning Citadel Station, a space station owned by the TriOptimum Corporation. However, in exchange for the dropping of all charges (and a military grade neural implant), you are tasked with hacking SHODAN, the artificial intelligence that controls the station. After hacking SHODAN, removing the AI’s ethical constraints, you are given the implants and put into a healing coma. You wake up six months later on board Citadel, and all hell has broken loose.

The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions of System Shock will see a physical and digital release, while the last-gen versions will be getting a digital-only release. System Shock is currently available on PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store.

Upcoming “Unholy Alliance” Update for ‘Cult of the Lamb’ Adds Local Co-op and More [Teaser]

Cult of the Lamb players will be getting more free goodies later this summer with the Unholy Alliance update. Coming August 12, the update introduces a brand new playable character in the Goat, which coincides with the game allowing local co-op.

With the Unholy Alliance update, the entire Cult of the Lamb campaign will be playable in local co-op. Players will also be able to enjoy special 2-player versions of existing mini-games, such as Fishing and Knucklebones, as well as choose from a selection of weapons, tarot cards, curses, and corrupted relics as your cooperative crusades progress.

The Lamb and Goat can also swap weapons, deal extra damage when fighting back to back, and even deliver a critical hit when their attacks are in sync. Good news for those who prefer to stay alone in their corner: they will be able to benefit from various new powers.

In addition to the addition of cooperative play, the Unholy Alliance expansion adds several tarot cards, relics, buildings, fleeces, character traits and quests, as well as the addition of new secrets to discover.

More information on the update will be released as the launch date creeps closer. Cult of The Lamb is available now on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and the Nintendo Switch.
