With Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire out in theatres today, we’re finally getting that crossover content for Sony and nDreams’ Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord. Available on March 28,  the new content marks the game’s biggest and most content-rich update yet.

Players will be guided by original Ghostbuster Ray Stantz (played by Dan Aykroyd, naturally) across a series of narrative-infused missions that tie-in with the events of Ghostbusters:Frozen Empire. Throughout their journey, players will receive powerful new equipment, face off against new ghosts, and work towards a thrilling final showdown against Frozen Empire’s villain, Garraka.

“The Frozen Empire update will be our biggest yet. Directly tied to Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire that just released in theaters, we’re bringing Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord players to New York for the first time to answer Ray’s call for help,” said Jake Zim, Senior Vice President of Virtual Reality at Sony Pictures Entertainment. “Players will be able to visit the iconic Ghostbusters Firehouse, brought to life like never before through virtual reality.”

In addition, playable avatars from Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire will also arrive as part of the update, with players being able to step into the shoes and character skins of “Podcast,” “Lucky,” and “Lars” (played by Logan Kim, Celeste O’Connor and James Acaster in the film).

Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord is available now on the PlayStation Store and Meta Quest Store.

‘Horror Tales: The Beggar’ Releases on Steam, PS5 and Xbox on June 17; Steam Demo Available Later Today

After revealing the physical version for the PlayStation 5 back in March, solo developer Carlos Coronado has finally revealed the release date for the digital version of Horror Tales: The Beggar. The follow-up to 2021’s Horror Tales: The Wine will arrive on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and PC via Steam on June 17th.

On top of that, Coronado will be releasing a demo for Horror Tales: The Beggar later today on Steam. The demo features portions of the first three areas of the game, with some of the content from the main game cut down to make the demo more compact, but also upping the mystery of The Beggar that will be revealed in the full version.

According to Coronado, the release of the demo so close to the launch date is a “big gamble”, but justifies the decision because The Beggar is “a very weird and unique game.” In a news post on Steam, Coronado states that Horror Tales: The Beggar is not Horror Tales: The Wine 2.0. “It expands in not just the lore, but the gameplay itself too. Let’s just say that The Beggar is highly experimental with some game mechanics you’ve never seen in a horror game.”

The story for Horror Tales: The Beggar sees players step into the aftermath of a catastrophic event, where “terror and science fiction intertwine amidst the ruins of a shattered world.” You will explore the remnants of a once-thriving civilization, now reduced to a treacherous landscape that’s now been shaped by the chaos of cataclysmic forces.

The main gameplay mechanic has players engage in physics-based combat that “adheres to the laws of the game world.” You’ll have to think strategically in order to adapt to the constantly shifting challenges, navigating the world where every action and reaction is governed by the principles of physics.
