Overhead Survival Horror Roguelike ‘Empty Shell’ Now on PlayStation Consoles [Trailer]

Published

on

It was a long time coming, but for those who experienced CC ARTS’ stylish roguelike overhead Survival Horror shooter Empty Shell on Steam can now experience the title on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. As an added bonus, you can pick up (on Steam) a different take on the gameplay of the original game with Empty Shell: The Loop – Prologue for free!

Empty Shell throws you into a dark industrial environment in the form of a secret facility on a Japanese island in the middle of nowhere. Each volunteer for the job has signed a contract for a “recovery operation” without being privy to too many details.

The facility has supposedly been abandoned for decades, but once you get there, it’s immediately apparent that this isn’t the case. As a result, you’re in the fight of your life as you battle the nightmares in the facility, all the while uncovering its dark secrets during its years of operation, up until the accident that led to your current situation.

Every time you die, you will control a new volunteer sent to the place. Your starting equipment will be randomized and each level will be generated with a new layout. You’ll also have puzzles to solve, as well as equipment, logs and documents to recover.

Meanwhile, Empty Shell: The Loop – Prologue puts you in a similar situation with similar game mechanics, throwing you into The Loop, a secret facility built on a Japanese island in the middle of nowhere. Volunteers are forced to enter the eerie rooms of the complex, seemingly without an exit. But what is that massive door in one of the rooms, and is it a way out?
