‘Vampire Survivors’ Finally Gets a ‘Castlevania’ DLC This Halloween With “Ode to Castlevania” [Trailer]

Published

It had to happen sooner or later, but Konami and Poncle have finally teamed up to bring Castlevania to Vampire Survivors with the new Ode to Castlevania DLC on October 31. Castlevania joins Contra as the second Konami collaboration for Vampire Survivors.

Vampire Survivors would have been a very different game hadn’t it been influenced by Castlevania in the first place, so this is straight up the definition of a dream coming true,” says Poncle in the announcement on the Vampire Survivors Steam page. Ode to Castlevania is not a standard DLC pack, according to the developer. Rather, it’s a celebration of Castlevania, and a “full-circle moment” for Vampire Survivors.

So, what do you get? Over 20 new characters, including the Belmonts, the Belnades, and other heroes spread across the Castlevania series. Along with those new characters, you’ll also get 40 new weapons inspired by the classic series, including whips (obviously). You’ll also be able to unlock the new Weapon Selector for every single character, allowing you to swap out a weapon to vary up your playstyle.

The DLC will also include the largest map Vampire Survivors ever, stacked with secrets and a bunch of bosses.

Of course, it wouldn’t be Castlevania without the music, now would it? The Ode to Castlevania DLC will include over 30 new music tracks of remixes of classic Castlevania tunes, which run the gamut to the standards to the more recent fare. In fact, you can check out “Vampire Killer” below as a preview.

Ode to Castlevania will be available on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, the Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.

‘Dead by Daylight’ Showcases Bloody Jason Voorhees Skin Ahead of June 16 Release

Published

Just in case it wasn’t already clear, Jason Voorhees will be arriving in Dead by Daylight next week. And along with teasing their 10th Anniversary Livestream on June 14, Behaviour Interactive also dropped another teaser, this time for Jason and his never-before-seen Bloody Jason skin. That also includes a Redband variant, just for old time’s sake.

While it’s unclear for now just how players can snag this gory cosmetic, the skin joins the other three previously-revealed skins in the Jason Collection, featuring a range of Outfits that pay homage to his legacy while being reimagined in ways only The Fog could shape. Jason’s default Outfit presents the unmistakable icon from Jason Universe, originally designed by horror legend Greg Nicotero: a 13-holed hockey mask, machete, and weather-beaten clothing worn through countless kills.

Additional outfits include Backwoods Terror, which trades Jason’s jacket for flannel and suspenders, and his machete for a heavy axe. Death Forsaken offers a more grotesque incarnation with decayed features, exposed bone, and a shovel in hand. Lastly, Jason’s Depths of Despair Outfit sees him emerging from the depths; a vision of terror covered head-to-toe in barnacles, coral, and seaweed.

Dead by Daylight: Jason will be available on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch on June 16.
