After its initial reveal at Gamescom earlier this year, Techland’s former Dying Light 2 expansion-now-full-game Dying Light: The Beast had a brand-new trailer debut at The Game Awards tonight, revealing the antagonist in the Baron, as well as the game’s Summer 2025 release window.
Dying Light: The Beast casts players once again as Kyle Crane (voiced once again by Roger Craig Smith), a man whose selflessness during the initial virus outbreak saved many, but his reward was being held captive for 13 years and subjected to various experiments. Now free, Kyle finds himself in a world that’s changed, and not for the better. Now, you’ll need to use the survival skills that kept you alive all those years ago to save even more innocent lives, as well as hunt down those responsible for your torture.
The Baron is an emotionless, calculating, but brilliant scientist. Brace yourself to encounter the biggest threat Kyle Crane has ever faced – the man who brutally experimented on him for over a decade. His real name is Marius Fischer, the last descendant of a noble big pharma dynasty from Castor Woods.
Convinced that the remnants of humanity who survived the outbreak are weak, he sees it as his moral right and highest duty to restore order. To achieve this, he’s deep into experimenting with sinister virus strains, pursuing his grand design that still remains a mystery to everyone, including Kyle Crane, who is nothing but a tiny piece in the vast puzzle the Baron is putting together. He doesn’t revel in the pain he is causing, but accepts the necessity of the suffering inflicted on his subjects as a mere side effect needed to succeed in his trials. After all, the greater good justifies all means.
