Techland Celebrates 10 Years of ‘Dying Light’ [Video]

10 years and 45 million zombie slayers later, Techland is taking the time this year to celebrate the Dying Light franchise, ahead of the release later this summer of the latest entry in the series with Dying Light: The Beast. Both Dying Light and Dying Light 2 will be receiving free goodies, as well as the return of events, new rewards and more.

“This year, we celebrate this remarkable decade and a journey that wouldn’t have been possible without our fantastic community of 45+ million diehard fans,” reads the press release from Techland. “Players have truly shaped what Dying Light is today. And the numbers are astonishing: since the release of our first title in 2015, they have racked up 67 billion zombie kills and over 1 billion hours of playtime!”

The team has put together a special 10th anniversary “Dying to Know” video, as well as a Community Rewind video that details some major numbers from the franchise’s history. To further celebrate the franchise, fans of the original Dying Light can enjoy the return of their favourite events, while in Dying Light 2: Stay Human, players can get their hands on special rewards from the first game through bounties on Pilgrim Outpost.

Techland has revealed that both games will also receive free updates, with Dying Light seeing the return of events, new rewards, and even a brand-new update aimed at further enhancing the game by improving the visual quality, adding a remastered soundtrack with new music from the original composer Paweł Błaszczak, and more. Meanwhile, Dying Light 2: Stay Human will see further prologue changes and the permanent release of the co-op focused roguelite mode known as Tower Raid.

During the anniversary celebrations, everyone will be able to claim a free package for Dying Light on their respective platform stores. And for those who haven’t jumped into the series, you can enjoy major discounts on both Dying Light and Dying Light 2: Stay Human, with the latter receiving a 67% discount for the first time ever. More information can be found on the 10th Anniversary website.

Meanwhile, the newest entry, Dying Light: The Beast, is currently slated for a Summer 2025 release for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, Xbox Series and PlayStation 5.
