The threat of licensing has reared its ugly head again for Dead by Daylight, this time around for Hellraiser. Yes, the Cenobite will be leaving the asymmetrical multiplayer title on April 4th, but not before Behaviour Interactive has a limited-time “Last Chance” sale for you to buy the Hellraiser chapter.
“Dead by Daylight is a live service game, and there’s always the possibility that unexpected changes may occur. Alas, one such time has come. We’re sad to announce that the Hellraiser Chapter, which includes Pinhead – known in game as The Cenobite – will no longer be available to unlock in Dead by Daylight starting on April 4th, 11 AM ET,” reads the announcement.
Starting today, the Chapter has removed from first party stores (except for Nintendo Switch, who will follow on March 13th), and the only way to unlock The Cenobite and his Cosmetics will be in the in-game Store. There will be no sale on first party stores.
However, as was the case with the Stranger Things Chapter when it initially left Dead by Daylight, any of the Chapter content unlocked before that date will remain available to use in-game. In addition, starting today, The Cenobite and his cosmetics in the Dead by Daylight in-game Store are being given a 50% off discount until it leaves the game next month. Note that if you unlock The Cenobite that way, you will still get the exclusive Lament Configuration Charm.
For those that do not own the character, The Cenobite’s Perks – Deadlock, Hex: Plaything, and Scourge Hook: Gift of Pain – will undergo a name change. They will be added to the General Perk pool and available in the Bloodweb for everyone. Associated Charms and Achievements will be updated to reflect these changes.
If you do own The Cenobite, Perk names and descriptions will remain unchanged, as will the Perk-related Charms.
Of course, there’s always a possibility that we could see Hellraiser return to Dead by Daylight. As mentioned before, Stranger Things came back in 2023 after nearly three years. But nothing’s guaranteed, as they say.
Dead by Daylight is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store and the Windows Store.
