‘Nightmare Frontier’ Out Now in Steam Early Access [Trailer]

Published

on

Ice Code Games’ mash-up of tactical turn-based strategy and extraction looter with “a bit of Cthulhu” in Nightmare Frontier is out now in Early Access on Steam. Accompanying the release is the customary launch trailer, as well as details about the game’s Early Access roadmap.

Nightmare Frontier unfolds in an alternate version of 19th-century America, shortly after a mysterious event that forever changed the world. The line between reality and an unknown horror has become blurred, and those who remain are left to uncover what truly happened that night – and what’s behind the titular Nightmare.

The streets have been overrun by monsters emerging from the dark abysses of the terror dimension – the survivors called these creatures Dreadweavers. These beings are the physical embodiment of people’s deepest fears. Players will step into the shoes of the ringleader, who, despite overwhelming terror, finds a chance for survival in this new reality. Leading other scavengers, they venture deep into the city, risking everything they have left in search of loot.

One of the key gameplay features is the constant need to take risks, which go hand in hand with potential rewards – Dreadweavers controlling the city are merciless, and reckless pursuit of loot can have tragic consequences. The Nightmare grows stronger with each turn, increasing in power and numbers.

As the terrifying events unfold, the city is mostly consumed by the Nightmare – a metaphysical and mysterious force. As it grew, the surroundings became increasingly tangled and destroyed. The chance that deadly anomalies will allow for enhancement of combat abilities goes up as well. Only a team willing to face their darkest fears is able to venture deeper into it and survive. However, the terror has left its mark on everyone, and each character will struggle with their own inner demons, which will influence challenges.

According to Ice Code Games, Nightmare Frontier will remain in Early Access for “about 6-8 months” ahead of a Q1 2026 release. In that time, the team plans on releasing two patches every quarter, culminating in the game’s exit from Early Access.

“During Early Access we plan to significantly expand the content and gameplay possibilities within it,” says Ice Code Games. “This includes adding new items to introduce fresh tactical options, new monsters to provide unique strategic challenges, and additional levels for greater variety and difficulty. We plan to give high priority to balancing the game based on a wide sample of data to ensure maximum enjoyment.”

Bloober Team’s ‘Cronos: Lazarus’ Leaked Prior to Official Reveal

Published

on

Bloober Team appears to have something in the works related to Cronos: The New Dawn. At least, that would appear to be the case, thanks to an accidental reveal ahead of this weekend’s IGN Live event as part of Summer Game Fest.

In the list of title reveals during the event, something referred to as “Cronos: Lazarus” appeared in the list, but was quickly scrubbed. However, not before the internet picked up on it. Adding more fuel to the reveal were two screenshots posted to X by insider Intercelluar, which appear to show the official art. It’s not clear yet, but this is more than likely a new DLC for Cronos: The New Dawn, given that Bloober Team is already busy with multiple other titles, including the Silent Hill remake, and the recently-announced Layers of Fear 3.

If you haven’t checked out Cronos: The New Dawn (and you never read Aaron’s review of the game), the game is set in the haunting ruins of New Dawn, a world inspired by Nowa Huta, a real historical district in Kraków, Poland. Cronos: The New Dawn unfolds across two timelines: a post-apocalyptic future decaying in despair, and the gritty, industrial 1980s reality. This powerful duality blends retro realism, dystopian sci-fi, and a retro-futuristic atmosphere to create a deeply immersive world filled with tension, mystery, and terror.

Players step into the hunting suit of The Traveler — an enigmatic agent of the Collective, sent into zones scarred by the Change, a cataclysmic event that shattered time, memory, and flesh. What remains is a world suspended between past and future — haunted, hostile, and unravelling. Survival is anything but certain.

Thanks to RelyOnHorror for the heads up!
