Steam Next Fest Demo for Lovecraftian Survival Horror FPS ‘Beneath’ Out Now [Trailer]

Published

Much like Fire Foot Studios, Wired Productions and developer Camel 101 are getting a head start on next month’s Steam Next Fest, releasing a demo for their upcoming FPS, Beneath. Accompanying the demo release is a new trailer titled “No Way Out”, featuring the custom Black Razor Records track “No Way Out” by Street Grease.

A Lovecraft-inspired survival FPS built by two brothers, Beneath is an “unapologetically tough single player shooter.” Scarce ammo, merciless enemies and a sense of the unknown combine in a story-driven campaign built for both veteran gamers and those seeking an old school experience.

The demo features a taste of what players can expect from the game, which sports a “golden-era PS3/Xbox 360 vibe wrapped in Lovecraftian dread.” Along with the scarcity of ammo and resources, you’ll need to think twice when it comes to encounters. Will you sneak past dangers or confront them head-on? Those dangers range from ruthless soldiers to grotesque Lovecraftian abominations, which you’ll need to their behaviours in order to survive.

The game casts you as seasoned diver Noah Quinn. A routine expedition has plunged into chaos, trapping him in the depths of the ocean, where an ancient evil lurks. As supplies dwindle and nightmarish creatures close in, Noah must confront horrifying mutations, creeping madness, and a sinister conspiracy that threatens humanity itself. With his daughter’s life hanging in the balance, Noah is pushed to his limits in a desperate race against time. Can he uncover the truth and stop an ancient horror from surfacing, or will the abyss consume them all?

In addition to a Steam release, Beneath is also currently in development for release on PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series.

Atari is reaching back for fans of the classic GameCube and Xbox fighter Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee with a remastered edition that’s coming November 3 to PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and the Nintendo Switch 2. The PS5 and Switch 2 will also be receiving physical versions that you can pre-order now.

“There is a real sense of responsibility that comes with working on Godzilla, especially with a fan-favorite title like Destroy All Monsters Melee,” explains Atari chief creative officer Mike Mika. “It is only natural that Atari, as the original publisher in 2002, would partner with Pipeworks, the original developer and kaiju experts to bring their creation back to center stage—bigger, better and more destructive than ever.”

The ultimate kaiju arena brawler is back, completely remastered. From Atari and original developer, Pipeworks, Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered updates the 2002 fighter with enhanced visuals and quality of life improvements. Choose from one of twelve monsters, and battle it out with a range of brutal attacks through 8 locations, each with day and night variations. Battle through real-world cities, Monster Island, and the alien Mothership. Face off against your friends in local co-op or new online multiplayer.

Along with the updated visuals, Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered also features gameplay updates, as well as an improved unlock system, so you can unlock monsters, locations, and gallery items in any order you choose.
