‘Winnie’s Hole’ Infects Steam Early Access on January 26 [Trailer]

Putting the demo aside, body horror fans have no doubt been itching to see just what’s in store with the full version of Twice Different’s Winnie’s Hole. They won’t have to wait much longer, as the darkly humorous strategy roguelite will launch into Steam Early Access on January 26.

Upon launch into Early Access, the team states that the game has all of its planned core features. The Early Access phase will allow the devteam to add more virus strains, mutations, perks, enemies, bosses, story beats, secrets, polish and quality of life improvements on the road to a 1.0 launch “within a year”.

A viral roguelite in the most literal sense of the word, Winnie’s Hole sees players take on the role of a virus that has entered Winnie’s body. Naturally, you’ll want to infect and capture cells to grow mutations and build a deck of actions to unleash in combo-driven combat. The resultant infection sees Winnie mutate in horrific ways.

Strategically place shapes into the brain of Winnie to trigger actions that play out automatically for fast-paced gameplay with the adaptability of a turn-based game.

You’ll explore randomly-generated worlds by placing Virus blocks to spread throughout Winnie’s body, starting with his brain. Each turn, your actions are dealt randomly to the Brain board. Place your block shapes strategically to activate powerful combinations, and adapt as you discover the limitations of your host… and how to overcome them.
