Auroch Digital and Dotemu have announced that their throwback FPS Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War! will release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, the Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam on March 16. In addition to the release date reveal, fans get a new gameplay trailer, and seeing as Steam Next Fest is right around the corner, a brand new demo on Steam.
If that’s not enough, pre-orders for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 physical editions are also available at select retailers.
Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War!’s all-new demo drops you into Zegema Beach’s seaside paradise, which is overrun by the invasive Arachnid species central to Starship Troopers’ iconic high-octane warfare. Exterminate the swarming menace from the once-picturesque holiday destination and nearby military strongholds, joining Federation forces in battle to squash a range of uniquely dangerous Bugs with a showstopping arsenal and devastating tactical strikes.
Meanwhile, today’s trailer includes a message delivered directly from General Johnny Rico (played once again by Casper Van Dien) introducing the brand new singleplayer campaign and its hero, Major Samantha Dietz (Charlotta Mohlin). The player dives into Dietz’s wartime experiences from 25 years earlier, and the gameplay follows the promising young recruit on the hunt for the despicable Assassin Bug during the First Bug War, as depicted in the classic 1997 film.
